About MUJI Stay
Discover why MUJI has ventured into hospitality.

MUJI STAY is an initiative to redefine the concept of “living” by reexamining the roles of accommodations and homes, aiming to transform lifestyles themselves. By utilizing idle assets and properties, it seeks to create multiple places—both in urban and rural settings, domestically and internationally—where people can live in a way that truly reflects themselves.
Starting from MUJI stores located across various regions, MUJI STAY incorporates local materials, techniques, and experiences rooted in the unique climate, culture, and customs of each area, allowing visitors to discover new regional charms. At the same time, it offers spaces and daily necessities designed under a unified design philosophy to ensure comfort and a seamless extension of everyday living, regardless of location or lifestyle environment.
Five Perspectives to Cultivate Local Potential

Utilize Idle Facilities
Shine a light on the region’s unused resources such as vacant houses, unused facilities, and untapped natural areas, and make the most of their inherent value.

Extend Everyday Living
Create spaces that incorporate MUJI products and interiors, allowing the value of daily life to be experienced even while traveling.

Use Stores as Hubs
Leverage MUJI stores nationwide as functional front desks or hubs for guests during their stay.

Create Local Employment
Empower local people and workers by utilizing their skills and strengths, making them leaders who support and share the lifestyle of their community.

Highlight Local Culture
Create opportunities to feel and experience the unique food, culture, history, and climate of the region.

Base for Experiencing Local Culture
Utilizing idle local assets,
operated directly by MUJI
MUJI BASE is a lifestyle hub rooted in the local community, proposed by MUJI. Under the concept of a “base for experiencing local culture,” it offers visitors a chance to live in harmony with nature and enjoy lifestyles that make use of local culture and ingredients. It aims to be a place to experience calm daily life away from the city and rediscover the charm of the region.
Co-creative Space for New Lifestyles
Renovations of existing hotels, inns,
or vacation homes
MUJI room is a co-creative accommodation space developed with local communities. With the concept of “a co-creative space for new lifestyles,” it renovates existing hotels, inns, or vacation homes to create spaces where guests can experience MUJI’s way of living. This project requires relatively small investment for local operators and works together to create new attractions in the area, expanding opportunities for visitors to experience local value.
Campsites that embrace regional features and offer nature as it is
Enjoy nature as it is. Founded in 1995 under this concept, MUJI campsites intentionally avoid excessive services, focusing on providing an experience of nature in its raw state. We offer tailored programs across three locations to welcome those just starting camping, those seeking new perspectives, and those who want deeper immersion.
