MUJI BASE KAMOGAWA is located in Kamogawa, Chiba Prefecture, where the original landscape of Japan, including rice fields like Oyama Senmaida, the nearest terraced rice field to Tokyo, still remains.
Between the mountains and the plains, you can experience the Satoyama lifestyle, living with natures and creatures such as trees, flowers, and birds. In order to allow visitors to fully experience the nostalgic lifestyle of Kamogawa, we offer you a local "base" with experiences to enjoy local "food and nature".
About MUJI BASE
MUJI BASE is a base for community-based living proposed by MUJI. Based on the concept of "a base for experiencing local culture", MUJI BASE proposes a new lifestyle to visitors by allowing them to experience a lifestyle that makes the most of local culture and food while living in harmony with nature. It aims to be a place where visitors can experience a peaceful everyday life away from the city and rediscover the uniqueness and goodness of each region.
History of
Former Facilities
In 2019, one employee who assigned to Kamogawa area met the landlord and this happens to the renovation of a 100+ year old private house by MUJI. The old house, which had become vacant, was reborn as a training facility of MUJI, designed to fit modern lifestyles while retaining the spatial value of a Japanese private house. Four years later, the facility opened as "MUJI BASE KAMOGAWA", an accommodation facility where people stay as if they were living in the community.
Service
We accept reservations from 2 nights or more to experience daily life in Kamogawa fully.
For guests to enjoy their stay, we provide MUJI amenities, including foods,
and meal kits using local seasonal ingredients (meal kits are available for additional charge).
Guests can also enjoy exclusive services at the nearby store MUJI Minnami-no-Sato.
